Editing and Replacing Graphics/ Files on a Mac
Three major steps to accomplish this: 1) Transferring the graphics from the /windows folder to your SD card, 2) transferring the graphics now on your SD to your Mac and 3) moving the graphics from your computer to your phone and eventually replacing the original files in the /windows folder
Step 0: Before we Begin...Installing the proper software
- To do the following steps you will need to install two programs, Total Commander and WM5torage. Install ONE at a time. Reboot (turn off/on) your phone in-between each installation.
- Total Commander
- Description: Allows you to see hidden folders on your phone, copy graphics and move things around
- Download: Click here download TC.
- Installation: Follow the steps on ghisler.com to install TC
- WM5torage
- Description: Turns your phone's SD card into a jump drive
- Download: Click here to download WM5torage.
- Installation: Highlight cab file on your phone and hit circle/ middle button to run and install
- Total Commander
Step 1: From /windows folder to SD card
- With TC find your way to the /windows folder. Then, find the graphic(s) you want, highlight and move them to your SD card (you can move more than 1 file at a time.) Now you need to get them on to your computer.
Step 2: From SD card to computer
- Activate WM5torage and connect to your computer like any other jump drive
- Copy file(s) to your computer and edit to your heart's content.
Step 3: From Mac to your Phone and /windows folder
- Basically it is a reversal of the previous steps
- Get the files on your SD card using WM5torage.
- Then move them from the SD Card to the /windows folder using Total Commander (click yes to overwrite.)
- Make sure to "deactivate" WM5torage after you are done using it!!
Installing themes/ apps on a Mac
- To get a new theme/ application on your phone without using activesync (which really just works with PCs) you can use WM5torage. This program changes your phone into a USB jump drive.
- Simply download WM5torage, install it on your phone, "activate it" and plug it into your mac or PC and your Shadow is recognized as a USB drive.
