Making a ringtone guide
From AllShadow.com Wiki
Hey guys! The type of ringtones that I like aren't really available for free, so I decided to try and create my own. Some of you may already know how to do this, but if you don't, I'd like to share it with you.
1. Download audacityhttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/ With this program, you can cut songs into whatever you would like for your ringtone
2. Open audacity and then open the song you want to use and trim it down to a 30-40 second ringtone. +++To trim the song click the audio were you want the ring tone to begin, and from there drag the little white hand to were you want to tone to end. You should see a grey overlay on top of the blue audio. +++Make sure the song isn't playing (stop the song with the big yellow button on top) and then go to edit & select Trim. You should only see your ringtone.
3. After you are done, go to File>Export WAV I save mines as (Ex: A_Keyshia Cole_Heaven) sent using A means they'll appear at the top of the list. +++You can also export audio as .mp3 by downloading lame (http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/) I'd suggest going to my documents and creating a new folder called lame and unzipping the lame file into this folder. When you try to export your ringtone as an mp3 it will ask you to find this file and just go to your lame folder and select it. You should only have to do that once.
4. Go to active sync and click explore. Double click my mobile data base from there go to Applications & Data>Sounds and copy your ringtones into that folder.
Sending: On the shadow it is called beaming. If you want to beam a tone just go to file explorer>my device>application data>sounds and select the one you want and choose beam. You can also send mp3's in text messages.
When you're done, sync it, and you may have to restart the phone for them to show up.
Please see the Original Thread for more information.
If you want a louder tone you can download goldwave ( http://www.goldwave.com/ ) you can open your audacity mp3 ring tone and edit the volume and also add fades to your tone! They sound awesome! Edit>Volume is were you will need to go. When you're done go to edit>volume>maximize volume and it will make the tone a little louder (well a lot louder...GREAT!). When you go to save you will need to locate that lame file I told you about earlier. You should only have to do that once for goldwave too!
