Q: How do I app (application) unlock my phone? What is it for?

A: App unlocking your phone allows you to open your phone up to install programs/apps/themes that other wise could not be installed. To do so, click here to download the App Unlock Cab file. Do NOT extract this!!! Simply, place the cab on your phone and run it. Turn phone off/on and you will be app unlocked. See the app unlock photo gallery for a pictorial of this last step.

Q: I downloaded a new theme, it is a "cab file." How do I install it (or how do I install themes or applications???) Also, what is an .exe and what do I do with it?

A: A .cab file is an installer program. This works to make registry edits, install new applications and install new themes. Do NOT extract a .cab file (even though you can!!) All you need to do is get it onto your phone (either on the SD card or your actual phone) and run it (literally highlight it and hit the middle circle button). The easiest place to put the cab is on your storage card, or if you don't have one you can place it in your "My Documents" folder. As long as it is on your phone it doesn't matter where. To locate the file, use "File Explorer" that came with your phone. For more description, see this tut for activesync users or this tutorial for Mac users. Also, check out these installation vids if you like.

A: An '.exe' is a file that some can be run on your phone, others on your pc and will copy itself to your phone- make sure you know which it is before running it! Just follow the directions above to get it working.

Q: The theme I want is a .zip file with a bunch of graphics. How do I install that?

A: First you need to un-compress the .zip file. Then simply copy the graphics into the /windows folder. Can't find the /windows folder? See this guide!

Q: How do I find the /windows folder for XP and VISTA?

A: Use this great tutorial for both.

Q: I keep hearing about WM6.1- what ROM am I running? Can I upgrade to 6.1? If I do, won't I lose my warranty???

A: The Shadow comes from the factory running WM 6.0 with Neo being the interface. T-Mobile offers an updated version located over at their update website. T-Mobile does NOT officially offer WM 6.1. However, some smart folks here and over at XDA have created many WM 6.1 ROMS that work fine. If you are interested in upgrading, check out the upgrading to 6.1 section of the wiki. If you have more concerns about upgrading, pleas read the FAQ about upgrading section to answer your fears!

Q: I just got my Shadow, how do I change my background picture?

A: It is as simple as renaming your picture and copying it to your phone (more specifically to the /windows folder.) To find out more details explore the basics of how to make a theme which will teach you how to change all your pictures/graphics.

Q: Where can I get new themes? How about new applications? How about games?

A: Check out the themes section or the apps section or games section of the wiki.

Q: How do I install a theme for WM 6.1?

A: See this 6.1 installation tutorial for help.

Q: How do I UNinstall things?

A: Check out the uninstalling guide on the wiki.

Q: I don't have a data plan but am using the wi-fi- will I get charged? Can I accidentally go on to the internet without a data plan?

A: If you don't have a data plan you can only access the internet using the wi-fi option. This means no accidental billing. If you use the wi-fi way to access the internet you will NOT be charged anything by tmo (as it doesn't use their network!)
