Step by Step Installation Instructions

Note: Whether you already have 6.1 or this is your first upgrade, these steps will make it possible for you to upgrade to the Erofich ROM

  • Step 1: Downloading the Appropriate Applications
    • Before we get ahead of ourselves you need the following 2 applications (CID Unlocker and the ROM) to be able to upgrade your phone. DO NOT RUN THESE YET!!!!:
      • Automated CID Unlocker v1.1 (USPL/SSPL).
        • When you have downloaded the CID Unlocker, extract it using an unzipping program on you computer
      • The Actual ROM (also often referred to as the RUU) (Note: both ROMs are same. The difference is in initial language only, which can be changed in Settings->Regional Standards.) You do not have extract the ROM.
  • Step 2: Unlocking your phone with the CIDUnlocker
    • This will application unlock your Shadow, as well as run USPL/SSPL- both which are needed to upgrade your phone.
    • Connect your Shadow to your computer via ActiveSync. Let it run/ sync.
    • Next, run CIDUnlocker (that you just downloaded) on your computer.
      • Note: If you have your phone is keyboard locked (so that it automatically locks when it is closed) either disable that or slide your phone open. Basically, if the phone is keyboard locked, the CIDUnlocker can't get to it.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions until your phone has a white, gray, or black screen.
    • IMPORTANT: You will also see that you no longer have an activesync connection (the green circle will turn grey). However, do NOT unplug your phone or try attempting to reconnect. This is 100% normal and is expected and needs to happen.
    • Now you are ready to run the Rom update.
Step 2 Pictorial
What you see when you run the CIDUnlocker A prompt you need to answer Hit any key here, it does the rest
What you see on your phone (hit yes) The White screen- 100% normal!

  • Step 3: Upgrading you ROM (running the RUU)
    • Make sure you have completed Step 2 before this step
    • Run Juno_RUU_V1b_en(ru).exe on your PC.
    • Follow the instructions
      • Note: if you upgraded your phone previously with the T-mobile upgrade, you will notice this looks almost identical to that process
    • Wait until flash process is completed (be patient, it can take some time).
      • Note: Your phone will turn on/ off, etc. as it is loading itself. Just let it do its thing. This is normal.
    • Congratulations, you know have upgraded your phone to WM6.1 (Erofich).
    • Now, before you do anything, we highly recommend you run the V1c update listed below (although it is optional)
Step 3 Pictorial
The first prompt, hit yes Click "I understand" Click upgrade
Hit next Hit next, and be patient!
  • Optional, yet highly recommended: Step 4: Installing update V1c (Date: Oct 21, 2008)
    • What this update gives you:
      • Enables xT9 by default
      • Sets ClockOnTop to 12 hour format
      • Sets correct keyboard mappings
    • Download the following update: Erofich V1c Update
      • Using activesync, move the file from your computer to anywhere on your phone.
      • Do NOT run it yet!!!
    • Next, using File Explorer on your phone, go to the \Windows\ directory and run ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe.
      • When prompted, click Yes(Да).
    • Now, using File Explorer on your phone, find the update you previously placed on your phone and run (install) the V1c Update.
    • You are now up-to-date!
    • Note: that it's a good idea to keep the update somewhere on your storage card if you have one. That way if you ever need to hard reset your phone and you're nowhere near a computer to get the update, you can reinstall it easily.
