FAQ About Upgrading

• Q: Which Shadow is this for?
  • A: These upgrades ONLY work on the original Shadow 2007. Do NOT attempt to do these on the Shadow 2009 (and really, there is no reason to do so!)

• Q: Won't this void my warranty?
  • A: Well yes and no. If you return your phone with 6.1 on it, then yes it will void your warranty. However, you can always, always go back to WM6.0 (neo) via the T-Mobile update and T-mobile will not be the wiser. So, feel free to play around and feel confident that you can always go back to what came out of the box (and if you need help, the AS community is behind you.)

• Q: So how do I go back to 6.0 (Neo)?

• Q: What are the differences between 6.0 (Neo) and 6.1?
  • A: Pros include threaded text, PIE has zoom feature, it is faster and has panels. Some cons include harder to make themes and sliding wheel doesn't work as well as in Neo

• Q: When I upgrade, will I keep all of the applications on my phone or will I have to reinstall them?
  • A: You will have to reinstall them. The upgrade totally wipes the phone. You will need to back up all personal data (photos, music, etc.) to your storage card before the upgrade. The upgrade will not affect the storage card, but it doesn't hurt to be on the safe side and remove it beforehand.

Selecing a 6.1 ROM

Now that you are ready to upgrade, you now have to pick which ROM you want to use. Take a moment to read before just upgrading to a random ROM; not all ROMs are the same!

The majority of the AS community are currently using Erofich and some are using MyHTC. If you choose these ROMs there will be a lot of support for you. If you choose an older ROM, well, they mostly work but you will find yourself without much AS support!

The ROMs

Here we present the 2 ROMs supported most by the AS community.

Erofich

This is probably the most popular and stable ROM, with an active support thread. No known bugs. Click above for downloads and great instructions on how to install this ROM.

MyHTC

This is a great ROM, especially for 6.1 beginners. Has a reboot program built into it. Click above for downloads and great instructions on how to install this ROM.

Older 6.1 ROMs

Click above for the original ROMs. For the most part they work, however, there are glitches. Also, these are not used much by the AS community now so you will be on your own for the most part. But if you are adventurous then go on, click above!
